I am St. Xavier's
College, Mumbai.
and I bear testimony to a great historical
adventure.
Built into my masonry are mingled emotions of
the German Jesuits who came to India on their reise, or journey
, more than 150 years ago.
Through my corridors have passed a remarkable
group of people who, of course, didn't know at the time that they were
so remarkable.
They formed the vanguard of an educated army of
thousands launched upon the world over the years.
What stories I could tell - of their whispered
conversations, their dreams and aspirations.
One thing I will talk about is the day girls
were admitted to the college for the first time.
